Ann Syme
Dr. Ann Syme is Dean of Langara College’s Faculty of Nursing, with a distinguished career as a nurse educator, academic leader, and healthcare executive. With extensive experience in palliative and hospice care, she is known for her commitment to advancing nursing practice, fostering humanistic care, and mentoring future healthcare professionals, here in Canada and in developing countries around the world.
Ann has contributed to the nursing profession locally, provincially, nationally and internationally through more than 30 publications, the development of evidence-informed clinical practice guidelines, and the creation of interdisciplinary communication frameworks. Her leadership is grounded in compassion, innovation, and a dedication to patient-centred care.
Ann holds a PhD in Nursing from the University of Victoria and a Master of Science in Nursing (Education Stream) from the University of British Columbia. She is a Registered Nurse (RN) and a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR).
