A new course is available for speakers of Chinese at Langara College. The pre-requisite is either 6 years of school in a Chinese-speaking country (for native speakers) or completion of a second-year level Chinese language course (for non-native speakers). To register, you will need an override from the instructor, Tianming Li. Please e-mail tli@rstdev3.zyns.com with your student number to register. The course meets one hour per week via Zoom, with the rest of the content delivered on Brightspace. One section meets on Wednesdays, 1830-1920 and another on Thursdays from 1730-1820.
新课程“现代汉语语法”秋季学期正式开设。该课程讲授现代汉语基本语法，包括拼音、汉字、词汇、词组、句子和标点符号， 是高校文科院系专业基础课。通过对现代汉语语法的系统学习，同学们将会加深对现代汉语的理解，提高汉语的阅读和写作能力并在逻辑思维方面得到严格的训练和提升。本课程由李天明博士讲授，欢迎同学们踊跃注册。

Course Description
This Advanced Chinese Grammar is designed for students with a good background in Chinese language. It is mainly a theoretical course with assistant practical trainings to develop students’ integrated skills of mastering and applying Chinese at the advanced level. This course will provide students with: (1) general introduction of Chinese language; (2) Chinese phonetic system; (3) Chinese writing system; (4) Chinese vocabulary; (5) parts of speech of Chinese words; (6) phrases; (7) sentence components; (8) sentence patterns; and (9) punctuation marks. After completing this course, students are expected to understand Chinese as a sophisticated language in the academic perspective, to use Chinese accurately and elegantly, to analyze Chinese language based on the theories of grammar, logic, and rhetoric, and to lay a strong grammatical foundation to become a Chinese language teacher or other professionals who need to use Chinese at the advanced level. Instruction and practice of this course will include lectures, discussions, presentations, exercises, and exams.
